The News in My Email:

First, from an opinion article:  “Trump Has Failed as Commander in Chief” (Thomas L Freidman, NYT) is as inane a thought as me thinking, This time my dog will not chew through the new garden hose while we water plants. I’ve replaced garden hoses five times in nine years. Our German shepherd loves helping with the summer watering chores. We love his excitement. However, this dog is incapable of watering outdoor plants himself, without our assistance. He learned to follow the hose to its kink and bark until we find and fix it. But the chore still belongs to us. He is merely the happy child who gets to pretend and splash about for attention. The Republican party, America’s racist minority, his cultist True Believers, television entertainment, a lazy and fraudulent corporate new media, billionaires, and non-voters gave Donald J Trump to us. He has not failed in the sense that he was qualified for the job but couldn’t pull it off. He was never qualified for the job. He was as incapable of being the leader of any legitimate governing body as my German shepherd. Why bend an article toward a premise that Trump had even one atom inside himself that could muster intelligent leadership? Words matter. Just say it with me, “Demented Old Rapist, Half-Wit, and Useful Idiot Failed as Commander in Chief. Duh!”

NOT from an opinion article:  “The White House’s new site about aliens has nothing to do with UFOs” (Juo Jingnan, NPR Politics) is an article that refers to aliens.gov, a new White House webpage that focuses on immigration enforcement. The new webpage shows that this regime openly appeals to our nation’s white supremacists and does not hesitate to dehumanize people or incite violence against immigrants. From the article: “…The website is yet another example of the Trump administration making light of the toll of immigration enforcement through a memefied communication style," said Shannon McGregor, an associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who studies the role of media and social media in political processes. The government's communication, and even governing style, is "wrapped up in 'everything's a joke, nothing matters,' as an excuse for pushing the envelope over and over," she said.  McGregor said the "extraterrestrial" language ties into "white supremacist ideas." The website warned of an "invasion" of "aliens" and said "President Trump was the first to call out the real danger Aliens pose to every American family, every community, and the future of our nation."  What sets this website apart from previous messages, McGregor said, is that it's clearly propaganda, posted on an official government website. She said the page has authoritarian undertones, "this idea that there's only one person who can fix it. And the one savior … is Trump himself."

“The Day Politics Replaced Science: Why Russell Vought’s new plan could cost America its future – and human lives” (Jack Hopkins, The Jack Hopkins Now Newsletter, Substack) Writers like Hopkins scan the news every day to expose what our worthless corporate media seldom shares. In this newsletter, Hopkins describes more trump regime policy that will affect our lives…that science must first seek approval via the White House before receiving research grants. Science must bend the knee to MAGA, the Trump administration, and the Republican party. From the article, “Vought, Trump’s Director of the Office of Management and Budget…has become one of the most powerful figures in Washington. Recently, the administration released a sweeping 412-page proposal…that would fundamentally alter how federal grants are awarded across government. The proposal would give political appointees…authority to review research grants…and determine whether they align with presidential priorities before funding can proceed. Scientific peer review would remain, but only in an advisory capacity.”

“Trump Strips Job Protections From 8000 Federal Workers” (Andrea Hsu, All Things Considered, NPR) From the news article:  “President Trump has issued an executive order turning an estimated 8,000 federal workers into at-will employees, which means the government could fire them without providing any reason. The move culminates an effort Trump launched during his first term to strip vast numbers of federal employees of civil service protections designed to insulate their work from political interference. Nearly all of the 8,000 people affected are at the highest level of the civil service, known as GS-15. The Trump administration characterizes the roles as senior positions with significant influence over policy. They include leaders of policy offices and their chiefs of staff, heads of regional offices, program managers, senior public affairs officers and those overseeing spending and grants.”

Reminder: Although reporters and writers seem to give all the credit to Donald J Trump for the horrendous policies and policy consequences, we must remember that the Republican Party is behind all of this. They own MAGA and Trump. They created Project 2025. They have done nothing since 2016 to stop MAGA…because the far right, Trump True Believers, and America’s Christian Nationalists have taken control of the conservative party. #NeverAgainVoteRepublican
